I took these pictures on Sunday, May 1, 2022. These photos were taken at the Olive Garden in El Segundo, California, around Marine & Sepulveda.
This one is pretty standard, but that’s no reason not to find joy in it.
This is a real classic flat slide bolt latch, with the lovely rounded triangular flaps on the top and bottom. It forms a lovely smooth diamond shape on the door. It’s not hard to see why this is a standard – it’s a winner.
The keeper looks like it might be from a different metal, which sort of throws it off, but it’s not the worst thing in the world. I’m a little irked though by the fact that the keeper isn’t more centered with the latch. If there was one improvement here, I think it would be lowering it slightly.
I do like the consistent screws! I also love the coat hook – you know I love me my bathroom coat hooks. I do think the spacing of the door and the frame could be improved on too though, there is a bit of a gap there.
Overall, it’s not the most unique lock, and it’s not even the best lock, but it’s a restroom lock nonetheless, and I’m happy to celebrate it. Have a great day.
